Sixth Months in, Six to Go... (before we're home for the summer)
17 down 20 to go!
Okay, it's not quite six months and we're not at the half way point in the academic year, but we're also not so far off either. So how has it been? Well in this post I'm going to stick to summing up the stuff we have done and the things we have experienced and looking at some of the tentative plans for next year.
It's hard to believe that this could technically be the quarter way through point depending on how things play out here. Yes, the idea is that this could be a three year assignment, but the contract provides for a break clause at two years, so we will see how things unfold.
So far this year we have experienced:
- Tropical Forests
- Tropical beaches (good and less good ones)
- Monkeys
- Lizards
- Insects
- Tropical Rain - Doesn't photographs well!
- Tropical Storms - nor do these, at least not by me with camera phone.
- Tropical Sun
- Temples
- Kuala Lumpur
- Johor
- Legoland
- Langkawi
- Cable Cars
- Mountains
- Insane road conditions
- Amazing food
- Food we were amazed by (not the same as above)
We also have planned for the next six months:
- A visit to the Cameron Highlands.
- Fingers crossed some people may be visiting from the UK (this will very much depend on how the Malaysian government respond to the pandemic over the next few months)
- Hopefully a visit to either Singapore or Dubai on the way back to the UK.
- Visit some of the more remote beaches here on Penang.
- Go to the tropical fruit farm.
- Visit Entopia (it's a butterfly farm and insect 'zoo' I guess).
- A bunch more stuff we probably don't even know is a thing yet and probably a bunch more surprising cultural experiences!
We have packed a fair amount of new experiences into a six month period and we have even more ahead of us!
